François Burland was born in 1958 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Burland draws – mostly with chalk or pencil on packing paper – and crafts objects like rockets or airplanes from a wide variety of materials. The artist works exclusively in series. The passionate traveller finds inspiration in mythological legends, entwining ancient sources with modern literature and is fascinated by the desert and its nomadic inhabitants. Burland is represented in the Collection de l’Art Brut, Switzerland, and has already been exhibited in France, Germany, and the USA.
