MARGOT

(1982)

Margot was born in France in 1982. In 2014, she quit her job as a florist and devoted herself to drawing from then on. Nature is at the centre of her drawings, both as a source of inspiration and as a model for her organic forms. The artist uses Chinese ink, pencil, pastels, ballpoint pen and sometimes oil paint and likes to work in large formats. At first glance, Margot’s compositions look like geometric abstractions. But closer inspection reveals hybrid figures that are part human and part botanical. Her mediumistic works are reminiscent of the works by Madge Gill and have been exhibited at the American Folk Art Museum, USA, and the Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art, Serbia.
