Johann Scheiböck was born in 1905 in Lower Austria, Austria, (date of death unknown) and ran a small farm there. The artist lived in the psychiatric clinic in Gugging from 1959 to 1972. His clear and concise motifs were mainly inspired by his surroundings, mostly agricultural machinery and equipment, vehicles, furniture, and animals. He mostly used pencil and packing paper, and coloured the objects he depicted with coloured pencil. His works can be found in the Collection de l’Art Brut, Switzerland, the Lentos Art Museum, Austria, the Arnulf Rainer Collection, Austria, and the Hannah Rieger Collection, Austria.
